PHILOSOPHY AND GOAL

The philosophy of education at the Alliance Evangelical Divinity School is founded upon the concept of the Church as spiritually created in Christ. Practical training and cross-disciplinary encounters between theology and the social sciences help to prepare students to serve as pastors and teachers of the Word, leaders who are responsive to the needs of the Vietnamese Church in Vietnam and overseas.

The goal of the Alliance Evangelical Divinity School is to prepare men and women for the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the advancement of the Kingdom of God among Vietnamese Churches worldwide. To achieve this goal, the school has set the following objectives to be realized in the graduates of its academic programs:

  • Competence in ministerial skills, including evangelism, Church planting, preaching, administration, counseling and interpersonal relationships
  • Cultivation of a deep personal and corporate piety
  • Knowledge and understanding of biblical studies and theology
  • A philosophical basis for ministry development based on studies of theological materials and biblically evaluated social science materials

  • Guided ministry experiences (e.g. practical training through internship and ministry experience)

  • Knowledge, understanding and experiences that facilitate a student’s ability to develop a well contextualized and effective ministry among Vietnamese people

  • Provide effective ministers for the churches of the Vietnamese District of the Christian & Missionary Alliance

  • Provide effective ministers for the churches in Vietnam and overseas

The school realizes that ministers are not just educated and trained. Development of self-discipline, a life of piety, a thirst for God and a compassion for men and women cannot be taught, yet these qualities can be modeled and their development encouraged.
