CHED 150/510 Foundations of Ministry (3)
An overview of the Christian education ministry of the Church, including biblical, theological, philosophical, and psychological foundations, with cross-cultural implications. Topics of study include the historical and theological nature of the Church, principles of evangelism and edification, spiritual gifts, training and equipping lay leadership, and an examination of contemporary career opportunities and parachurch ministries.
CHED 203 Family of the Christian Leader (3)
A consideration of the special and unique challenges faced by vocational Christian workers and their families. It is includes all phases of occupational Christian ministry.
CHED 241/541 Teaching Ministry of the Church (3)
Structured experiences in teaching the Bible in the Church and para-Church vocational settings. They relate to the development of speaking skills required in professional ministry positions. Lesson preparation and presentation are emphasized.
CHED 355 Small Group Ministry (3)
Examination of the role of small groups in the local Church for developing biblical community. Emphasis is placed on understanding interpersonal relationships, character development and skills for organizing and leading a small group ministry.
CHED 356 Sunday School (3)
A study of comprehensive issues of teaching and learning. A study of theory and research is integrated with practice through a teaching project in biblical setting.
CHED 367/670 Philosophy of Education (3)
A course designed to build student’s personal philosophy of Christian education, by examining the outstanding educators of history. A lecture-discussion type course.
CHED 440/640 Children Ministry (3)
Building on information, methods, and skills developed in Christian Nurture of Children. This course focuses on training leaders and Church staff members who will work with children. Attention is given to children with special needs, learning disabilities, and giftedness.
CHED 441/680 Youth Ministry (3)
An introduction to junior and senior high youth education in the local Church, primarily focusing on Vietnamese-American adolescent culture. Attention is specially given to the foundational themes of background, aims, principles, personnel and strategies/methods of youth ministry. Student observation, research and oral presentation skills provide essential, experiential components of this course.
