MINS 205/520 Pastoral Ministry (3)
The life and work of the Christian pastor is studied with attention to the broad range of duties, rituals, and responsibilities for which the contemporary Christian pastor is expected to have competency. Topics for study include administration of sacraments, Church finance, staff administration, worship, Church boards, pastoral visitation, and evangelism.

MINS 206/580 Church Leadership & Management (3)
The biblical basis for organizational management and leadership. Examination of the process of planning, organizing, leading and supporting from a biblical basis and made applicable to Christian service and ministry.

MINS 250 Worship (3)
An introduction to the theological foundations, history, and practice of Christian worship, with special reference to basic forms and practices of worship. Applications of old practices to modern worship also will be suggested. Individual worship and corporate worship will be discussed in detail.

MINS 303 Church & Society (3)
A study of biblical ethics and the role that the local Church plays in the community. Special attention will be given to major social problems such as the sanctity of life, chemical abuse, domestic violence, social ills, and the political process.

MINS 304/610 Homiletics I (3)
An introduction to the theology, methodology, and practice of biblical preaching. Emphasis is on clear and forceful exposition of the Scriptures, communication skills, and pertinent application. Preaching labs involving class evaluation are included.

MINS 305/611 Homiletics II (3)
A course designed to strengthen existing homiletical skills. The student will be taught several different homiletical approaches and will gain experience in preparing, preaching and observing various kinds of sermons. Preaching on special occasions such as weddings, funerals and holidays will be discussed. Videotaped preaching labs, self-evaluation and peer and instructor critiques will aid the student in developing increased expertise in this ministry skill. Prerequisite: MINS 304

MINS 306/630 Pastoral Counseling (3)
An introduction to the differing viewpoints and approaches to counseling. Application and implementation of a biblical model of counseling are considered. Certain basic areas of counseling are covered, such as marriage and family, anxiety and depression, and sexual mal-adjustment.

MINS 310/650 Expository Preaching (3)
A study of the value and technique of expository preaching. Expository sermons will be developed and preached in class.

MINS 312 Marriage and Family (3)
A presentation of the biblical foundation for marriage and to practical elements necessary for successful family living. Topics such as communication, money management, marriage roles, sex, children, in-laws, etc. will be covered.

MINS 320/670 Evangelism and Follow-Up (3)
The biblical principles and practice of evangelism and discipleship. The class will seek to develop the skills of personal evangelism, determine strategies for a discipleship ministry, and explore the theory and practice of small group ministries.

MINS 344 Women’s Ministries (3)
Selected topics concerning the roles of women in the ministry of the local Church, in mission work, and in para-church organizations will be addressed. These studies are intended to give practical guidance and direction for women in fulfilling their Christian calling and work. Course structures and specific topics will vary.
