INCOMPLETE GRADE
A grade of “Incomplete” (“I”) may be granted by an instructor in unusual circumstances such as an extended serious illness, etc. It is not granted automatically. Permission for an “Incomplete” must be requested prior to the end of the course(s). Forms requesting permission for an “Incomplete” are available from the Registrar’s Office.

A Faculty member in lieu of a final grade may issue an incomplete grade when the student has not met course requirements at the end of the course. An Incomplete Grade Contract must be completed by the Faculty member and signed by the student. An “I” grade is automatically changed into an “F” if a new grade is not submitted by the deadline. Removal of an “I” or “NR” is the student’s responsibility. No student may graduate with an “I” or “NR” in any course. A maximum of 12 weeks may be allowed for completion of course requirements. Extensions up to this period may be requested but are only granted in cases of just cause. The proper procedure for requesting an extension is:
  1. The student requests permission for an extension from the instructor;
  2. The student then requests an extension in writing to the Academic Dean;
  3. The instructor/professor recommends the student’s petition to the Academic Dean;
  4. The Academic Dean contacts the instructor/professor to verify the reason(s) for the extension.
